I started playing piano when I was three, and eventually taught myself to play by ear. I would listen to the radio and emulate the pop hits of the 2000’s, making my own tunes and recording them with an old cassette player. When I was 15 years old, I bought my first laptop and downloaded Fruity Loops. The first 200+ songs were pretty rough, but after a few years I finally got the hang of the program. Meanwhile I also attended and dropped out of college three times in a row. It bored me to death and I would stay at home making music instead of attending class. I eventually wrote my mother a song as a surprise. I sang it on video and it ended up going viral and netting me a small but powerful, devoted fan base of about 3,000 people from all over the world. Since then I’ve been writing, producing, and publishing my own music regularly for about a year now! I found out about a recording school about 8 hours away from my house and saved up enough money to attend. I returned home to New York and wrote “Took A Tab” in about 4 hours. I then uploaded it to the Open Labs contest (my previous song “Roses” took fourth place a few months before, so I tried again) and ended up getting first place! My main focus is pop music, pulling inspiration from singers like Ed Sheeran and Jon Bellion.
