Jaycee, an experimental-new-school hip-hop kid from Buffalo, started his musical journey at the young age of 15. When his father became terminally ill, he decided to drop out of high school at 16 to pursue his dreams full time, while promising to make his father proud before he would pass. From recording rhymes in his closet with a USB laptop mic, to pumping out diverse and compelling tracks in state of the art commercial studios only three years later. His dedication to music shows through his raw passion and aggressive emotion that is undeniably unique, yet true to the art form. Bands like Blink-182, Green Day, 311, and Linkin Park were major influences on his gained interest in creating music. It’s started with Rock, but his focus changed when he fell in love with the way Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park was rapping for the band at the time. Jaycee then dove deep into the hip-hop rabbit hole and never looked back. Today, artists such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Logic, and Kanye West, all inspire and challenge him to be the best artist and person that he can be, on and off the stage. Jaycee has opened for underground favorites like Sam Lachow, Futuristic, and YMCMB artist Caskey. While only a few recent major singles have been released in the past year, he has dozens of songs on stand-by just waiting to be released to the public.
